Paul Lovoi, Ph.D.

CEO and Chairman Board of Directors, Co-founder

Dr. Paul Lovoi has over 30 years experience managing and founding companies. Just prior to founding Tagent, Paul was co-founder, prime inventor and CEO of Xoft Inc., a company focused on using tiny x-ray tubes to treat cancer. During his 30 plus years Paul has started a total of seven companies. In addition to Tagent and Xoft, he founded Jan Medical, a brain imaging and diagnostic company, Candescent Technologies, a flat panel display company and INTA, a high temperature materials company. Dr. Lovoi has 34 patents issued and 30 pending applications. He has a Ph.D. in physics and completed the Stanford Executive MBA program.

Jarie Bolander

VP Research and Development, Co-founder

Mr. Bolander has over twelve years of experience in managing, developing and manufacturing semiconductors. He has experience ranging from development of high-end multiprocessors for neural networks, speech recognition microcontrollers to his recent work on a product line of 2.4GHz ISM band chip sets. More recently, Jarie managed design engineering for the entire wireless business unit at Cypress Semiconductor. He led a team of design engineers that produced the first radio chip ever manufactured in a Cypress Fab -- the WirelessUSB™ EX chip set. The WirelessUSB™ EX chip also won the 2003 EDN innovation of the year award in communications. While at Cypress, Jarie was also a vital leader of the team responsible for moving the Personal Communication Division (PCD) to 0.15µm process geometry from 0.25µm. Jarie also led the effort to migrate Cypress’ USB 1.1 microcontrollers from a legacy PROM technology to a new and improved non-volatile technology. This move improved both margins and end customer experience. Mr. Bolander has four issued patents with four more pending.

Prior to his employment at Cypress Semiconductor, he worked for Sensory Inc. a speech recognition microcontroller company. At Sensory, he was part of a small elite ASIC development team that was responsible for bringing ASIC design and manufacturing processes in house. The RSC family of microcontrollers also won the 1996 EDN innovation of the year award in IC’s and Semiconductors and the Design News Magazine Electronic Product of the Year in 2001.
 
In addition to his impressive engineering management skills, Mr. Bolander has held positions in product engineering, test engineering, and design engineering.

Mr. Bolander holds a Bachelor’s degree from California State University, San Jose in Electrical Engineering and earned a masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Geoff Zawolkow

VP. Marketing and Business Development

Mr. Zawolkow has over thirty years experience founding and managing businesses.  He is responsible for developing and implementing Tagent’s strategic and tactical marketing direction. He has developed relationships with key partners and customers.

Prior to taking his current position as VP of Business Development for Tagent Corporation.,  Mr. Zawolkow founded and ran the management consulting company, Turning Point Ventures, focused on helping startup companies establish systems and processes that lead to success. Just prior to TPV Geoff was a Founder and Managing Director of the Wireless Business Unit at Cypress Semiconductor. In that role he was responsible for creating the first wireless chips produced by Cypress. He pioneered the concept of WirelessUSB and managed the delivery and launch of the initial product. Before Cypress, Geoff co-founded and ran Alation Systems which he sold to Cypress in 2000. While running Alation he negotiated key strategic relationships with major companies such as National Semiconductor, ST Microelectronics and Diamond Multimedia and shipped the first affordable wireless home networking solution in 1998. Prior to Alation, he worked at Compaq Computer Corporation as Director of Creative Platform Development. While there he oversaw the development of software shipping across the entire line of Presario Computers. It was during that time that the Presario became the number one selling consumer PC worldwide.

Mr. Zawolkow's former professional positions include: Executive Producer and Founder of the Family Software Unit at Berkeley Systems Inc.; General Manager, Development Manager, and QA Manager at Wings for Learning/Sunburst; Founder, Chairman, and VP of Product Development at Advanced Ideas Inc.; and Director of Computer Projects at the California School for the Deaf. He holds a MS in Education from CSU Northridge and a BS in Biology from the UC Irvine.
